Conversations A\venir – Europe in the turmoil of extremes: can the past enlighten the future? Cet événement est passé. 13 March @ 17 H 00 min - 19 H 30 min This event is in french. The next edition of the conference Conversations A\venir, organized by the BNP Parisbas Foundation and Institut Louis Bachelier, will take place at the Collège de France (11 Place Marcelin Berthelot – 75005 Paris, Marguerite de Navarre Amphitheater), exclusively in person, on March 13, 2024, at 5:00 PM. On this occasion, Christian Monjou, a University lecturer and researcher at the University of Oxford, will present his reflections on Europe, less than three months before the European elections, on the theme: “Europe in the turmoil of extremes: can the past enlighten the future?”. Description: Europe has been the stage for all extremes. Witness to the best and the worst, its history provides us with valuable lessons to illuminate the future. Armed conflicts, struggles for equality, and a passion for social justice have shaped the identity of a European society that has become democratic and inclusive, which we must rediscover during this journey into history proposed by Christian Monjou. Is the future not in the promotion of exchanges, open dialogue, and an enlightened management of common challenges, both economic and social or environmental? Is the Europe of tomorrow not one of a great common future drawn from history and whose talent would be to transcend specificities without ever denying them? Program: Christian Monjou‘s presentation will be followed by a roundtable moderated by Guillaume Ledit (Editorial Director – L’ADN Le Studio), where he will exchange ideas with several personalities who will be announced soon. 5:00 PM: Guest welcome 5:30 PM: Introduction 5:45 PM: “Europe in the turmoil of extremes: can the past enlighten the future?”, Christian Monjou, University lecturer and researcher at the University of Oxford 6:30 PM: Roundtable moderated by Guillaume Ledit (Editorial Director – L’ADN Le Studio) with: Christian Monjou, former lecturer at Oxford University.
