Summary France is plagued by existential doubts about its social model. The promise of a society that guarantees everyone the right to happiness is slipping away, and the proposed remedies often seem worse than the evil they are intended to combat. This book presents a picture of a society that is questioning its future, and aims to propose a diagnosis and explore avenues of reform through the proposals of the most eminent researchers in economics, brought together under the leadership of Philippe Askenazy, Daniel Cohen and Claudia Senik. Analyzing the different facets of the social question, the book deals with the main themes that concern public opinion: gender inequality, the fight against discrimination in hiring, the fight against obesity, the link between liberalization and growth, and the reform of the welfare state.
