A Platform of Excellence for Research and Dialogue on Climate Economics

Established in October 2010, the Chaire Économie du Climat (CEC) positions itself as a leading research platform, recognized both academically and as a vital resource for economic and political decision-makers. Its research program, validated by a globally renowned scientific council, focuses on the economics of climate change.

Training Tomorrow’s Researchers and Promoting Dialogue

The CEC prioritizes the training of young talent by welcoming interns, doctoral students, and post-doctoral researchers from diverse disciplines. This approach fosters the emergence of a new generation of climate economics specialists. Additionally, the CEC serves as a hub for dialogue between researchers and professionals, offering a dynamic framework for collaboration and exchange.

Research Poles Driving Innovation

The CEC’s activities are structured around thematic research poles, where dedicated teams address key challenges and specific sectors. These poles drive innovative and actionable progress aligned with climate and economic issues.

  • CEC Pole 1: CO₂ Pricing and Low-Carbon Innovation
  • CEC Pole 2: Agriculture and Forestry
  • CEC Pole 3: Energy Transitions

Events: Sharing and Debating to Progress Together

The CEC organizes regular events to promote the dissemination and discussion of research findings:

  • CEC Annual Day: Held every October, this event gathers researchers, policymakers, and economic stakeholders, along with members of the scientific council, to discuss research advancements.
  • Friday Lunch Meetings (FLM): On the third Friday of each month, these thematic debates provide an opportunity to discuss current research or pressing topics.
  • Thematic Workshops and Morning Debates: These ad hoc events, organized with academic and industrial partners, strengthen synergies among actors involved in climate-related challenges.

Strong Academic Partnerships

The CEC collaborates closely with several prestigious academic institutions. It hosts doctoral students enrolled in various doctoral schools and maintains strong ties with:

  • LEDA-CGEMP at Université Paris-Dauphine,
  • EconomiX Laboratory at Université Paris Nanterre,
  • BETA Laboratory at INRAe,
  • Industrial Engineering Laboratory at CentraleSupélec – Université Paris-Saclay.

The CEC is also involved in elite training programs, such as the Energy Finance Carbon (EFC) Master’s at Université Paris-Dauphine and the Sustainable Development, Environment, and Energy Economics (EEET-EDDEE) Master’s, offered by Université Paris Nanterre, AgroParisTech, and their partners.

By combining research, education, and professional engagement, the Chaire Économie du Climat stands as a key player in addressing the challenges of climate change.
