Summary This article proposes to study the links between territorialization and greening within the French forestry and wood industry. We show that the parallel emergence of the two processes has legitimized the territory as a relevant scale for the implementation of ecological alternatives in the forest, but also throughout the sector. The resulting changes in practices show that the two processes should be considered as concomitant, operating at a key moment in the reorganization of production systems and feeding off each other, rather than as the cause or consequence of each other. While existing tools for evaluating practices are essentially at the development stage, a particularly fertile front is developing at the intersection of the environmental sciences and the humanities.
