Summary Technological changes have transformed the ability of Internet users to act, as they evolve in spaces of encounter and collective creation. An empirical study of 1825 individual users of a culinary community site shows the possibility of classifying participants according to their actions of consumption, participation and production of content. Studying the relationships between members allows us to explain each of these behaviors. While participants enable social life, producers are characterized by low involvement in exchanges.
