Summary In a context where the marketing potential of the Champagne appellation continues to grow, a lack of regulation of the intermediary market between the vineyard and the trade will lead to a continued increase in grape prices, to the gradual closing of the market, and to a double concentration movement to the detriment of the consumer: a few very large brands downstream and a few very large cooperatives upstream. This example raises the question of the legitimacy of interprofessional intervention on intermediate prices.
